Restaurant Barrique opened at Vredenheim in 1999 and is an oasis of traditional cuisine in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands. This venue is ideal for enjoying our a la carte menu in a Historic Cape Dutch setting surrounded by the Helderberg Mountains. We also specialise in small functions, wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions in the Cellar venue.
After many years of owning and running Glyndale Guest-lodge in Uvongo, KZN, Karin and Peter Brittz decided to relocate to Stellenbosch. With a passion for the hospitality industry and dream to run their own restaurant, they opened Restaurant Barrique on Vredenheim Estate in 1999. In the almost 20 years on the farm, they have become a household name, with guests not only visiting time after time to enjoy their famous oxtail, pork belly and much more, but also to see Karin and Peter as old friends. Their daughter Simonè joined the family business in 2017 and together with her parents, strive to continue the Barrique tradition.
